Taskpunter is the result of my personal experiences working as a programmer, data scientist and informatician for companies, organizations and universities.
Most work today is done digitally and having the right software/tools for the job is essential for getting things done efficiently. It’s often not possible to buy the perfect software for a particular task. Sometimes there is a need to purchase expensive software packages or services that must be customized for those processes. But the cost, time and effort associated with buying, setting up, and maintaining it may not be justifiable. Also, simply having a software does not mean it will be used effectively. Sometimes guidance from an expert user can dramatically improve the utility of a software.
Large companies fortunate enough to have an in-house development team have the luxury of creating their own customized tools. They also have a staff that offer guidance, support and help integrate individual programs, apps and scripts into the company’s ecosystem of software. At a few companies staff have the opportunity to get the direct assistance of the dev team with tools/scripts they need to get their job done. Not everyone is so fortunate.
In small organizations it’s up to the individual to research and find their own solutions and in many cases it is a tremendous sink for wasted time that results in delays that cascade across multiple projects.
Is there a way to provide individualized help to almost anyone? What if there was a way to virtually have an in-house dev team at your service? What if there was a way to get expert help instead of tackling the steep learning curve of a new software package alone? Better yet, what if you could offload that portion of the project to an expert and focus instead on another aspect where you have expertise? I came up with TaskPunter as an answer to these questions.
